Popular content creator Dani Klaric discovered a massive termite nest inside the walls of her 100-year-old home in Miami during a major renovation project.

Klaric revealed the discovery in an interview with People magazine, explaining that severe insect damage ultimately forced her to rebuild the entire foundation of the property.
The interior design blogger purchased the historic residence with plans to completely remodel the structure. The house was originally constructed around the 1930s, an era when South Florida residential building relied heavily on timber framing and pine lumber.
Initial renovation work on the house proceeded smoothly until the project reached the bathroom. Klaric said that after workers removed the wall tiles and began dismantling the walls to replace aging plumbing fixtures, she uncovered the termite nest hidden inside the bathroom wall cavity.
She described the unexpected finding as disgusting, noting that the insects had silently devoured substantial portions of the wood behind the wall surfaces.
Foundation replacement and structural damage
The insect infestation severely compromised the structural integrity of the century-old building. Klaric said specialists warned her that she had roughly ten years before the house would have collapsed entirely because termites had consumed so much of the internal framework.
To save the property from collapsing, the blogger was forced to undertake a complete reconstruction of the house foundation. Structural repairs on older wooden homes typically require installation of temporary hydraulic jacks to lift the building, replacement of damaged sill plates, and construction of new concrete support footings.
Termites represent a major hazard for residential property owners, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions such as Miami. Subterranean and drywood termites feed continuously on cellulose within wooden structural beams, often causing extensive damage over several years before being discovered during major wall removals.
Social media audience and related disaster reports
Klaric regularly documents home remodeling projects, DIY decorating tips, and interior design concepts for her online audience. She maintains active accounts on TikTok and Instagram, where she has built a combined following of nearly four million subscribers who follow her property transformation videos.
Instagram, owned by parent company Meta, and TikTok have become primary channels for home improvement creators who share step-by-step renovation timelines with global viewers.
The report follows separate coverage of property destruction involving Colombian television presenter Rossi Lemos, who recently shared images of her house following a destructive earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10. Lemos expressed solidarity with all victims affected by the earthquake.
