Perez Hilton's Mother Seeks Custody After TikTok Incident

Teresita Lavandeira has petitioned a court in Miami for temporary custody of Perez Hilton's three children following his hospitalisation after a self-harming incident on TikTok.

Lavandeira filed the legal request three days after the 48-year-old blogger streamed live from his Florida home while suffering a severe mental health crisis, according to court documents cited by People magazine.

Custody petition in Miami

The petition was submitted after emergency services rushed to Hilton's house in Miami on Tuesday, August 4. Local authorities located the blogger inside the residence covered in blood and transferred him directly to a hospital for urgent medical care.

Court records indicate that Lavandeira sought legal custody shortly after the incident occurred. Reports of the filing were also published by TMZ on August 12.

Live stream and emergency response

Hilton was broadcasting live on TikTok when he appeared on camera self-harming with a knife. Viewers who witnessed the broadcast alerted local authorities, prompting emergency responders to intervene at the scene.

Relatives revealed that several family members were present at the property shortly before the live stream began. Hilton's three children, along with his sister and niece, were inside the home just minutes prior to the broadcast.

Family members stated that as soon as they realised Hilton was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and inflicting injuries on himself, they immediately evacuated the premises for safety.

Hospitalisation and recovery outlook

On August 8, Hilton's family released an update on his medical condition, confirming that he had suffered significant blood loss and additional physical injuries during the incident.

Doctors determined that the blogger would require surgery to address his injuries. Relatives described his condition at the time as serious but stable, adding that his medical treatment and recovery would be a long process.

Family arrangement and account removal

Hilton is the father of three children: 13-year-old Mario, 11-year-old Mia, and 8-year-old Mayte. The children reside in Miami with their grandmother, Lavandeira, following a recent relocation aimed at keeping the family closer together.

Following the broadcast, Hilton's account on TikTok was taken offline. A representative for the video-sharing platform in the United States confirmed to People magazine that the account had been disabled.
