Volunteer employees of Banco Popular Dominicano and AFP Popular held a day of activities at the Hogar de Ancianos San Francisco de Asís, a retirement home in Santo Domingo, sharing recreational, artistic and reading activities with residents aimed at promoting their wellbeing and integration.
The initiative, organized by the Voluntariado Popular program, gave the elderly residents a morning of recreation and exchange through spaces designed to encourage their participation and foster social connection.

Dinorah Grullón Hernández, manager of the Projects Division at Banco Popular Dominicano, gave the opening remarks. She said reaching out to communities through volunteer actions like this one was important.

She said they believed that contributing to people's wellbeing also meant being present and reaching out to the communities they were part of, and that this spirit of service came to life through the Voluntariado Popular program and the participation of employees who gave their time, enthusiasm and skills to make a positive impact on others' lives.

Bank executives who attended
Also present at the event were several other Banco Popular and AFP Popular executives:
- María Badía, vice president of the Talent Management and Culture Area at Banco Popular
- Leonel Ng, manager of the Sustainability and Responsible Banking Division at Banco Popular
- Carolina Grimaldi, manager of the Organizational Wellbeing Division at Banco Popular
- Noris Rojas, manager of Institutional Relations at AFP Popular

Painting, singing and storytelling
The event included a performance by the Coro Popular, the institutional choir made up of company employees, along with an artistic and recreational activity adapted to residents' needs.
That activity was a canvas painting workshop using a stamping technique designed to make participation easier for people with different levels of mobility and manual dexterity.

Members of the Popular reading circle, called Letras Azules, also shared stories, tales and selected readings with the elderly residents, creating opportunities for conversation and interaction in small groups. The day directly benefited around 60 residents of the Hogar de Ancianos San Francisco de Asís.

About Voluntariado Popular
The event is part of the wider Voluntariado Popular program, which promotes participation by employees of Banco Popular and other companies within Grupo Popular in social, community and environmental activities. Through the program, volunteers contribute time and knowledge to support projects intended to help the country's development.
Voluntariado Popular has more than 2,000 active volunteer employees. It works across four key areas: community development, education for sustainability, social and health management, and reforestation.
Its goal is to give employees suitable spaces to combine their interests with paid working time in support of what the program describes as a more prosperous society and a better world.
In December 2025, Voluntariado Popular received recognition from the news outlet Conexión RSE, which highlighted the financial organization's commitment, and that of its staff, to offering time and talent for community projects with social and environmental impact.
