The International Contemporary Dance Festival, known as EDANCO, will hold its 2026 edition in Santo Domingo from September 22 to October 4, bringing together companies and artists from eight countries.
The program features performers from Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, the United States, Spain, France, Romania and the Dominican Republic, with pieces spanning a range of styles and approaches within contemporary dance.
The festival opens on Tuesday, September 22, at 7:00 p.m. at Quinta Dominica, a historic site in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, the district of the Dominican capital recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Spanish colonial-era architecture.
The opening night will include performances by artists from Canada, a photography exhibition by Mika Pasco, and a presentation by the National Contemporary Dance Company of the Dominican Republic.
EDANCO director Patricia Ortega said that over the festival's two weeks, audiences will be able to see work from national and international creators and engage with different forms of expression within contemporary dance, according to a press release from EDANCO.
Ortega said this new edition once again turns Santo Domingo into a meeting point for creation and thought around contemporary dance, fostering exchange between Dominican artists and creators from different parts of the world.
Ortega, who is also a dancer, choreographer and cultural manager, said the performances aim to generate exchange between artists from different countries and to use dance as a space for connecting cultures.
International Lineup
EDANCO 2026 will feature companies and artists from the Americas, Europe and the Caribbean. The program combines international productions with the work of Dominican dance figures.
According to organizers, the festival aims to give audiences the chance to discover new trends and forms of creation in contemporary dance, while strengthening exchange among the participating artists.
Ticket Prices and Benefit Gala
Tickets for the performances cost 300 pesos per person and can be purchased at the venues where the shows will take place, as well as through the Tix.do platform.
A benefit gala scheduled for Saturday, October 3, will cost 500 pesos per person.
Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the EDANCO Foundation.
With this new edition, the festival once again positions Santo Domingo as a stage for artists and companies dedicated to contemporary dance and cultural exchange.
