A solar eclipse on August 12 will cross Ukraine's skies as a partial event, and astrologer Irina Nyzhnyk says it will trigger major life changes for four zodiac signs in particular, according to a forecast she wrote for UNIAN.
UNIAN noted that astrology, tarot reading, numerology, palmistry and similar practices are not scientific disciplines. It said they are based on ancient traditions and beliefs that are not confirmed by scientific research or objective evidence, are not recognized in academic circles, and are often intended for entertainment rather than as reliable tools for decision-making. UNIAN added that people should consult qualified professionals on matters of psychology or health.
When and where the eclipse will be visible
August 12 will bring the second solar eclipse of 2026. It will be total, with the path of totality visible to residents of Greenland, Iceland and Spain, but Ukraine will see only a partial phase.
The eclipse will run from 15:34 to 19:57 Coordinated Universal Time, or 18:34 to 22:57 Kyiv time. It will be most visible in western Ukraine: the Moon will cover about 40% of the Sun's disc in Lviv, about 12% in Zhytomyr and about 2.5% in Kyiv.
What the eclipse means for each sign
Nyzhnyk said the eclipse marks the end of one life stage and the start of another for every sign. Her forecasts included:
- Aries: new creative opportunities and a push to act instead of waiting for the perfect moment.
- Taurus: questions of family and stability come first, possibly including a change of residence.
- Gemini: new opportunities in study and career, with a chance conversation potentially shaping the future.
- Cancer: a shift in how one values personal work, possibly bringing new income sources.
- Leo: one of the most important eclipses in years, launching a new cycle around career and goals.
- Virgo: a desire to withdraw, reassess one's life and let go of old fears.
- Libra: a changing social circle, with new collective projects or support from like-minded people.
- Scorpio: career and professional growth move into focus, with more responsibility and leadership.
- Sagittarius: possible relocation, study, international projects or a long-delayed dream finally pursued.
- Capricorn: a period of deep inner transformation around trust and shared finances.
- Aquarius: major developments in partnership, either the start or the end of a serious relationship.
- Pisces: changes to work routines, daily schedule and attitudes toward health.
Four signs facing the deepest change
Nyzhnyk said Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius sit in the zone of strongest interaction with the eclipse axis, so the changes could touch the most important areas of their lives.
For Pisces, she said many will stop living by others' expectations, with possible breakups, career changes or relocation, and warned against self-deception. For Virgo, she said the eclipse will test relationships and reveal which ties were built on habit or fear of loneliness. For Gemini, she said views on career, education, location or social circle may shift, with many realizing it is time to leave the past behind. For Sagittarius, she said the eclipse will test the balance between personal ambition and family values, and cautioned against rushed, emotional decisions.
Nyzhnyk said it is important to understand that the most precise reading of the eclipse comes not from a person's sun sign but from their individual natal chart, which shows which area of life will see the main transformations.
