Disneyland Resort in California will launch its 2026 holiday season on November 13, offering two months of themed parades, seasonal ride overlays and fireworks.
The festive schedule, officially titled Holidays at the Disneyland Resort, will run through January 6, 2027, according to information released on the resort website. The winter programming will take place across Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park and the Downtown Disney District.
The California resort serves as a major holiday destination for hundreds of American and international families each year. Organisers advise guests to plan their trips well in advance to avoid unexpected issues and delays during the peak winter travel period.
Disneyland Park holiday attractions
Disneyland Park will host several dedicated holiday shows and character appearances throughout the two-month celebration. The entertainment schedule includes A Christmas Fantasy Parade, a daily musical procession of themed floats and Disney characters that concludes with an appearance by Santa Claus.
Two major rides will receive complete holiday overlays for the festival. Haunted Mansion Holiday will present a festive makeover inspired by the animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas, while It's a Small World Holiday will showcase festive lighting and traditional decorations from cultures across the globe.
Sleeping Beauty Castle will also undergo its seasonal Wintertime Enchantment transformation, turning the building into an illuminated holiday scene. In the evenings, visitors can watch Believe... In Holiday Magic, a spectacle combining fireworks, visual projections and artificial snowfall.
Disneyland Park opened in Anaheim, California, in 1955 as the first theme park conceived and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. Sleeping Beauty Castle stands at the end of Main Street, U.S.A., serving as the park's central visual landmark, while The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay draws on characters created by filmmaker Tim Burton in his 1993 stop-motion feature.
Disney California Adventure entertainment
Disney California Adventure Park will present seasonal entertainment that highlights cultural traditions and family attractions. The Disney Viva Navidad program celebrates Latin American festive customs through live musical performances, traditional dance, regional cuisine and character encounters.
In the Cars Land area of the park, two vehicular attractions will operate with holiday themes. Luigi's Joy to the Whirl features a musical ride through Luigi's decorated backyard, while Mater's Jingle Jamboree offers a seasonal tractor ride through Mater's decorated junkyard.
Santa Claus will also make appearances across the wider resort complex. Visitors will have regular opportunities to meet the holiday figure at multiple designated locations for photographs and seasonal greetings.
Disney California Adventure opened in 2001 on the site of Disneyland's original parking lot, expanding the Anaheim property into a multi-park resort. Its Cars Land section, introduced in 2012, recreates the fictional town of Radiator Springs from the Disney and Pixar animated film Cars. The adjoining Downtown Disney District provides open-air shopping and dining between the theme parks and resort hotels.
Travel tips for visitors
The announcement included practical guidance for visitors travelling to the resort during the busy winter period. Guests are advised to purchase admission tickets early because of strong demand and to arrive punctually at the park gates to avoid long queues at popular rides.
Visitors should also consult the daily schedule for evening shows in advance to secure clear viewing spots for the fireworks and castle lighting. In addition, travellers are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and carry a light jacket to prepare for cool evening temperatures common in Southern California during winter.
