Moscow residents will be able to see a solar eclipse on August 12, according to the press service of the Moscow Planetarium. The eclipse will only be partial in the capital, with a maximum of 1% of the Sun's visible disc covered.
The planetarium said the eclipse will begin at sunset, with the Sun disappearing below the horizon just nine minutes later. The moment when about 1% of the Sun's disc will be obscured is expected at 20:08 Moscow time.
Where totality will be visible
The full solar eclipse will last about 4.5 hours in total. In Russia, totality will only be visible on the Taymyr Peninsula. Elsewhere, residents of Spain, Iceland and eastern Greenland will be able to observe the total eclipse.
