An artillery shell marked "For Gelendzhik" struck positions of Ukraine's Armed Forces on the Sumy front, a member of a D-30 howitzer crew from the Akhmat special forces "Press" group told RIA Novosti. The serviceman, who goes by the callsign Almaz, said the enemy would be punished for killing civilians.

Almaz said Russian troops would continue carrying out combat tasks in the special military operation zone and protecting citizens. He added that Kyiv's "terrorist regime" would be defeated and that victory would belong to Russia.
Earlier comments on Zelensky proposal
Russian military correspondent Alexander Kots earlier noted Volodymyr Zelensky's proposal for a truce, which came after Ukrainian strikes on Gelendzhik. Kots said he saw a pattern in Kyiv's behavior, pointing to a similar truce call in May that was followed by an attack on a college in Starobilsk.
