Naldy Saldaña Rejects Proposal to Rejoin La Bella Luz

Peruvian cumbia singer Naldy Saldaña has confirmed she rejected a proposal to rejoin music group La Bella Luz after alleging improper touching by a former director.

Speaking on the television show El Reventonazo de la Chola with host La Chola Chabuca, the singer explained that an invitation from current band leader Óscar Junior was not enough to alter her decision to leave.

Saldaña, known for performing the song Amor Ilegal, broke down in tears during the interview as she addressed her departure from the popular Peruvian orchestra.

Allegations against former director

The performer explained that her refusal to return stems from a perceived lack of backing after she reported improper touching attributed to César Sánchez Chavesta, the former musical director of the group.

Sánchez Chavesta, who retired from the ensemble following the allegation, is the uncle of current band leader Óscar Junior and the cousin of group owner Óscar Custodio.

Saldaña recalled informing management at the time that she was not doing well, questioning how executives handled the situation. She added that she had hoped for a firmer response from owner Óscar Custodio upon learning of the conduct attributed to his relative, noting that her final communication with the group occurred when she submitted her formal resignation.

Following his departure, Sánchez Chavesta was spotted at a shopping center where members of the public booed him and called him disgusting.

Difficult moments and future plans

Reflecting on her time with the group, Saldaña described experiencing particularly difficult moments before her exit. She stated that colleagues saw her crying on multiple occasions and that she told them directly she was struggling.

Saldaña also recounted a conversation with owner Óscar Custodio, who explained that the band was going through a hard period because two members had left. Saldaña noted that those individuals departed in search of their own peace of mind.

The family of the singer has also felt the impact of the ordeal, with Saldaña's father speaking publicly about the difficult reality facing their household after the report was made. Meanwhile, television presenter Valeria Piazza expressed indignation after Saldaña was verbally attacked in the street, stressing that the singer is the victim.

Despite the painful circumstances, Saldaña expressed gratitude for her period with La Bella Luz, acknowledging that the experience allowed her to grow artistically. She confirmed that she will not return to the band and will instead pursue her career as a solo artist.
