Mets Theatre, a venue founded by actor Anna Menenakou and director Sotiris Tsafoulias, has unveiled its program for the upcoming season in Athens. The newly established art space will host theatrical plays, original adaptations, musical series and live acoustic sets focused on human existence and sincere communication.
The venue is located at 19 to 23 Aidesiou Street in the Mets neighborhood of Athens. Organisers announced that advance tickets for all scheduled shows are available online through Ticket Services.
Mets is a historic central neighborhood in the Greek capital, situated near the Panathenaic Stadium and long associated with artists and cultural spaces. Tsafoulias is a prominent Greek film and television director, while Menenakou is a recognized stage and screen actress in Greece.
Main Stage Theatrical Productions
The theatre's drama schedule opens on October 30 with Dionysis (Denis) Makris's contemporary play, The Circle of Anonymous Addictions. Co-directed by Zafiria Dimitropoulou Del Angel and Makris, who also performs the solo role, the piece begins at an Anonymous Addictions meeting and explores personal identity, freedom and survival.
Organisers said the production features physical staging and humor. Performances will run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 21:00, with an additional early show on Saturdays at 18:00.
A second theatrical production, titled Juliet, begins its run on October 29. Directed by Tasos Tyrogalas and starring Thalassini Vostantzoglou, the adaptation revisits William Shakespeare's classic tragedy through the perspective of a young woman refusing to compromise.
The production examines passion, sacrifice and love. Shows are scheduled for every Thursday evening at 21:00.
Musical Encounters and Live Sets
The venue's musical programming includes Natalia Lampadaki's show, What If, running on four consecutive Wednesdays: November 4, 11, 18 and 25. Dramatized and directed by Eleni Vlachou with Stelios Fragkous on piano, the performance combines songs from various eras with original texts centered on time.
Singer Christina Maxouri will present Songs for the Pain of Humans and Things (Part 2) on five Wednesdays in December, specifically December 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30. Accompanied by pianist Konstantinos Evangelidis, the intimate set transforms human suffering into art.
Actor and musician Panos Vlachos returns to Mets Theatre for four acoustic concerts designed to reflect on modern reality. His performances will take place on Tuesdays, December 15, 22 and 29, concluding on January 5.
Singer Christos Adamopoulos will host an interactive musical project titled PRIVE every Wednesday in January, covering January 6, 13, 20 and 27. Joined by musicians Andreas Tsafos and Periklis Sountas alongside surprise guest performers, the unscripted show will feature new arrangements each week.
Rebetiko History and Guest Staging
The Ancoretto Ensemble will present From Port to Port... on Wednesdays in February, specifically February 3, 10, 17 and 24. Directed by Roxani Metzikof and the ensemble, the show features performers Theodora Athanasiou and Alexandros Kentris using traditional instruments including the lafta, bouzouki and yayli tanbur to trace the roots of rebetiko from Asia Minor to Piraeus.
Rebetiko is a genre of Greek urban popular music that emerged in the early 20th century among working-class communities and refugees. The performance combines live music, historical narrative and archival material to showcase the genre as an act of personal freedom.
Mets Theatre will also host a guest production of French playwright Eric Westphal's You and Your Clouds starting November 2. Directed by Kostas Filippoglou, the play portrays two sisters confined to a home during a collapse into mental illness and religious intensity.
Filippoglou also stars in the production alongside Giannis Varvaresos, Vicky Kampaka and Dafni Kafetzi. Performances will take place every Monday and Tuesday evening at 21:00.
