Maria Eleni Lykourezou has honored the memory of her mother, the Greek actress Zoe Laskari, on her Instagram account to mark nine years since her death.
Lykourezou shared a photograph of her mother alongside a message expressing gratitude for everything she learned from her and stating that not a day passes without thinking of her.
She noted that all the difficulties she experienced since losing her mother had made her stronger as she reflected on the anniversary of her passing on August 18, 2017.

Instagram tribute to Zoe Laskari
Writing on her personal social media account, Lykourezou marked the period from August 18, 2017, to August 18, 2026, stating that the nine years felt like yesterday when they spoke, laughed, hugged, and spoke on the telephone.
She wrote that while they used to travel together, her mother had now traveled alone, with her soul resting in the light where it belonged.
She expressed her thanks for everything her mother had shown her, said, laughed about, and been angry about, describing her mother as glamorous, sensitive, tough, straightforward, vibrant, and real.
Lykourezou stated that she would always honor and think of her mother, adding that she was only just beginning. She recalled that she previously stayed in the background observing without speaking, but was now starting to speak out.
She stated that the mud and stones thrown at her over nine years had been turned into strong foundations built while shut inside, adding that it was time for light to illuminate the truth before concluding that she adored her mother.
The post was accompanied by the song The Salvation of the Soul, which Lykourezou noted was her mother's favorite song.

Circumstances of her death
Zoe Laskari died following a cardiac arrest while sleeping at her home in Porto Rafti on August 18, 2017, at the age of 74.
She was buried in the First Cemetery of Athens, inside the Lykourezou family tomb.
Porto Rafti is a coastal resort town in East Attica, while the First Cemetery of Athens is the official burial ground for notable Greek public figures.

Family memories and heritage
Lykourezou, who also uses the name Aithra Lykourezou, previously remarked that a star is born rather than made when speaking about her mother.
The mother and daughter were previously photographed together during a trip to Monaco in 2002.
Her father, the prominent Greek lawyer Alexandros Lykourezou, previously recalled his first meeting and date with Zoe Laskari, noting that he had never seen any of her films before they met.
Laskari was widely known as one of the most prominent leading figures in the golden age of Greek cinema, starring in numerous popular feature films and theatrical productions.
