Russian entrepreneur and blogger Marina Mogilko, who lives in the United States, has complained about the American healthcare system after returning to Russia to seek medical check-ups for her family.
Speaking in a video uploaded to YouTube, Mogilko explained that she chose to undergo extra medical examinations alongside her children during a two-month visit to St Petersburg because obtaining preventative scans in the US is extremely difficult.
She said it is beneficial to arrange supplementary health checks in Russia because doctors in America rarely agree to order preventative ultrasounds of the thyroid gland or breasts. According to Mogilko, US physicians typically perform only physical palpation by hand during routine appointments.
Mogilko is an online personality and business owner originally from St Petersburg, the second-largest city in Russia. She frequently publishes video content about her life, business ventures, and parenting experiences in North America to her followers on YouTube, a global video-sharing platform.

Diagnostic imaging and medical monitoring
Ultrasound scans are non-invasive medical imaging tests that use high-frequency sound waves to capture images of internal organs and body tissues. They are frequently used by medical professionals to check for abnormal growths, such as nodules in the thyroid gland located at the base of the neck.
The blogger revealed that healthcare providers in the US only agreed to perform scans after discovering a nodule in her thyroid gland region.
She explained that American doctors are now required to conduct regular examinations to monitor the growth. However, she added that without an existing medical issue, no physician in the US would have ever agreed to grant her a routine ultrasound scan.
Challenges of motherhood in the United States
The comments on healthcare follow previous statements Mogilko made regarding social infrastructure and living conditions for families in the United States.
She previously stated that the US lacks state-funded kindergartens and offers almost no guaranteed maternity leave to mothers. Mogilko noted that raising children under such conditions often turns motherhood in America into a severe test of endurance.
