María Pía Copello's Stream Raises S/100,000 for Teletón

The streaming show hosted by Peruvian television personality María Pía Copello raised close to S/100,000 for Peru's Teletón 2026 fundraiser, according to producer Abneer Robles, who said a representative of the telethon would collect the check on Monday, September 14.

Robles, who produces Copello's program "Sin más que decir," made the announcement on Friday, September 11, thanking viewers for the donations they had sent in over the previous days.

He said he had spoken with people from the Teletón and that, so the show's check would not go unnoticed, a Teletón representative would come on Monday to collect it. He said that meant the show had until Monday to keep taking donations, and asked his fellow panelists if they knew how close the total was getting to a particular figure before revealing the amount raised.

The Teletón is Peru's annual telethon that raises funds for children treated at the San Juan de Dios clinic. This year's edition ran on September 11 and 12, and the source reports that it surpassed its fundraising target, though no final total was given.

Ethel Pozo's Etheltón

Television host Ethel Pozo, who was removed as an anchor of the Teletón this year, said that beyond disputes and rivalries she wanted to support the children treated at the San Juan de Dios clinic. She launched a campaign of her own, dubbed the "Etheltón," which brought together friends and followers of "Sin más que decir" in support of the cause.

A joke about Esto es guerra

Robles also used the moment to joke about the current state of Peruvian entertainment news, name-checking reality show competitor Said Palao, an unspecified "CEO," fellow personality Patricio Parodi and the payroll of the long-running reality competition "Esto es guerra." He said the show was bordering on 100,000 soles raised and could still bring in more, and that the donation account would remain active through the rest of the weekend before the final check was handed to the Teletón representative on Monday.

The reference to "Esto es guerra" followed recent friction between Copello and Palao, a contestant on the show, after he revealed his salary on air. Copello had criticized the disclosure, saying she found it ridiculous to show how much a person earns.

A first-time donor

The same day, a fan of "Sin más que decir" who follows fellow viewer Israel Dreyfus donated US$2,000 to the campaign. She said it was the first time she had donated but that it would not be the last, because she planned to keep supporting good causes.

Robles said the final check from the show's fundraising drive was to be handed to the Teletón representative on Monday, September 14.
