Madonna has landed on the Greek island of Patmos by helicopter to visit the Cave of the Apocalypse during an extended vacation in the Dodecanese.
The American singer arrived on Monday, August 17, dressed in white clothing and a wide-brimmed hat, according to photographs published by local Greek news outlet Real Voice.
Her arrival involved a three-helicopter convoy touching down on the island. The pop star traveled in the primary aircraft, while a second helicopter carried her entourage and a third transported their extensive luggage.
Nikos Antonopoulos, the deputy mayor of tourism, culture, and education for Patmos, received the singer at the island helipad upon her arrival.
Helipad Welcome and Island Stay
Antonopoulos presented Madonna with official gifts on behalf of the Municipality of Patmos. The items included a commemorative photo album detailing the history and scenery of the island, as well as calendars for the year 2027.
During her three-day stay, Madonna stayed at a luxury accommodation in Skala, the principal port town and commercial center of Patmos.
The primary highlight of her itinerary on the island was a visit to the Cave of the Apocalypse. The site is a revered holy location where Christian tradition holds that St. John the Theologian received the revelations recorded in the Biblical Book of Revelation.
Before boarding her helicopter at the conclusion of her three-day visit, Antonopoulos asked whether she was satisfied with her stay. Madonna responded that she loved Patmos and expressed a desire to return to the island in the near future.
Birthday Festivities on Corfu
Patmos formed the latest leg of Madonna's summer tour across Greece, which also coincided with celebrations for her 68th birthday on the island of Corfu in the Ionian Sea.
The pop star spent her birthday in a local Corfu village, enjoying traditional Greek cuisine and music. In social media posts featuring images from the gathering, she told her followers to eat, pray, love, drink, dance, and break plates.
Reports noted that a local priest waited at the village church to welcome her during her time on Corfu, though she did not end up visiting the church.
Spiritual Excursion to Meteora Monasteries
Earlier on her Greek journey, Madonna visited Meteora, a dramatic rock formation in central Greece known for its historic Eastern Orthodox monastery complexes built atop natural sandstone pillars.
She spent three hours touring the Varlaam Monastery at Meteora, one of the main active monasteries in the region. During her visit, she met directly with the monastery's Abbot to request spiritual guidance.
The journey across Meteora, Corfu, and Patmos highlights the singer's exploration of both famous island retreats and historic religious landmarks across Greece.
