Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Independent Authority for Public Revenue on Thursday to launch myAGRO, a new digital agricultural subsidy platform.

The system went into live operation on August 6, 2026, serving as the official portal for farmers and livestock breeders across Greece to submit their Single Support Application for 2026.
Speaking during a presentation at the tax agency, Mitsotakis described the launch as a major milestone for the country's primary sector. He stated that the platform belongs entirely to the Greek State and uses technology to simplify filing procedures for producers.
The Prime Minister recalled that fifteen months ago, his government made the difficult decision to transfer subsidy administration from the former Payment and Control Agency for Guidance and Guarantee Community Aid, known as OPEKEPE, to the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, or AADE. He emphasized that the move was necessary to resolve chronic flaws in paying agricultural subsidies and said ministers now feel vindicated by the outcome.

Payment Schedule and Fund Allocation
Addressing government officials, Mitsotakis outlined the timeline for distributing financial aid. He stated that the government intends to issue advance subsidy payments by October 31, 2026, for applications submitted by September 15, while payments for applications submitted between September 16 and the final deadline of October 16 will be processed by November 30.
Mitsotakis asserted that the country could no longer remain hostage to illicit networks, deep state interests, political favors, and old-party practices. He noted that reallocating resources away from ineligible applicants has ensured that genuine beneficiaries receive larger financial amounts.
Acknowledging that the transition remains ongoing, the Prime Minister stressed that the subsidy framework is now established on sound foundations. He added that this system is essential for planning a five-year reform of the primary sector under the European Union Common Agricultural Policy, promising to oversee the initiative personally if his party secures re-election in 2027.

Automated Data Integration and Real-Time Checks
The myAGRO application was designed to reduce manual data entry by automatically populating forms with information from official government databases. The portal retrieves existing records from previous filings, AADE tax registries, E9 property declarations, the myDATA electronic invoicing system, and lease declarations, alongside data from the Ministry of Rural Development and Food.
Under the new architecture, every action on the platform is linked to an identified user, specific role, and designated organization. Built-in digital and geospatial checks evaluate data in real time using updated mapping provided by the Ministry of Digital Governance and property records from the Hellenic Cadastre, identifying discrepancies prior to final submission.
The system also introduces a central digital authorization management structure and reduces the need for applicants to resubmit paperwork already held by public authorities. Starting August 28, 2026, the platform will generate a dedicated QR code to activate the official Farmer's Card.

Expanded Representatives and Fraud Controls
For the first time, Greece has expanded the range of certified professionals authorized to submit Single Support Applications on behalf of agricultural producers. In addition to traditional Declaration Reception Centers, producers can now retain accountants and accounting firms registered with the Economic Chamber of Greece, as well as agronomists, foresters, and veterinarians affiliated with the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece.
To protect the integrity of the system, new regulations establish strict due diligence and conflict of interest rules for all filing representatives. Non-compliance will trigger penalties tailored to the severity of the violation, with specific sanctions to be determined by the Governor of AADE.
Furthermore, applicants are no longer required to upload handwritten lease documents directly to myAGRO ahead of the deployment of the digital Real Estate Ownership and Management Registry, known as MIDA. Farmers must maintain physical copies in their documentation files, while property leases will be cross-referenced through AADE's existing lease application or the MIDA registry.
Support Services and Official Reaction
Officials confirmed that a dedicated working session will take place within the week to guide professional bodies and institutional stakeholders through the new platform, authorization protocols, and support tools. The session will stream live on AADE's YouTube channel, allowing viewers to submit written questions via interactive chat.
Producers and representatives seeking assistance can access the my1521 Taxpayer Service. Telephone support is available toll-free domestically at 1521 from Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 20:00, while digital inquiries can be submitted 24 hours a day through the my1521 web portal using TAXISnet login credentials.
AADE Governor Giorgos Pitsilis stated that launching myAGRO represents a major step toward a simpler, safer, and more transparent subsidy mechanism. He emphasized that the state now fully owns and controls the digital infrastructure, blocking fraudulent practices and ensuring that European funds reach legitimate recipients.
Pitsilis thanked the Ministry of Digital Governance, the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, the National Union of Agricultural Cooperatives, and the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece for their collaboration in establishing reliable mapping data and preparing the new filing procedures.
