Fundación Corripio has announced the five winners of the Fundación Corripio Awards 2026 at an official event in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The annual honors recognize individuals and organizations whose dedication, talent, and career achievements have significantly advanced the development of the Dominican Republic across various professional fields.
Established in 2007, the awards are organized by Fundación Corripio, a Dominican cultural organization created by the prominent Corripio family to foster education, science, literature, and social welfare throughout the Caribbean nation.
Ana Corripio de Barceló, vice president of Fundación Corripio, delivered the formal reading of the jury decisions during the announcement ceremony held at the National Center for Science and Technology in the capital city.
Following the reading, José Luis "Pepín" Corripio Estrada, president of Fundación Corripio and leader of the prominent business group Grupo Corripio, personally telephoned each recipient to deliver the news. The foundation reported that each winner received the notification with emotion and surprise after being chosen from a wide pool of candidate submissions.
Honorees in science, education, and health
Acción Empresarial por la Educación, Inc., known as Educa, received the award in Social and Legal Sciences in the Educational Institution category. The organization was selected in recognition of its long trajectory and contributions to strengthening and developing the national education system of the Dominican Republic.
Educa is a prominent Dominican non-profit organization that works alongside private enterprises and public sector leaders to drive educational reform, teacher training, and structural improvements in schools across the country.
Rosa María Paliza was awarded the prize in Natural and Health Sciences in the Clinical Psychology category. The foundation honored her career accomplishments, her contributions to the practice and growth of clinical psychology as a discipline, and her commitment to societal well-being.
Clinical psychology involves the assessment, diagnosis, and psychological treatment of mental health conditions, a field that has expanded significantly within Dominican healthcare institutions over recent decades.
Recognitions in communication, arts, and inclusion
In the Communication category, sportswriter Héctor J. Cruz earned the award for Sports Journalism in print media. The jury highlighted his extensive media career, his analytical reporting on issues of national and international interest, and his promotion of journalistic best practices in sports coverage.
Carlos Veitía Ramírez won the award in Art under the Classical Ballet Choreography category. He was recognized for his long career as founder and director of the Ballet Clásico Nacional and the Escuela Ballet Concierto, as well as his work managing and producing dance pieces that have left a mark on national and international stages.
The Ballet Clásico Nacional serves as the flagship classical dance company of the Dominican Republic, performing major repertoire pieces and original choreographies at major cultural venues.
Fundación Escuelita Rayo de Sol, Inc. received the Corripio Alonso Family Award. The organization was honored for its work supporting children and young people with intellectual disabilities through programs focused on skill development, tailored educational support, and school inclusion.
Ceremony details and prize awards
Each of the five award recipients will receive a commemorative statuette symbolizing the prize, an official diploma of recognition, and a cash award of one million Dominican pesos.
The formal presentation gala will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Carlos Piantini Hall of the Eduardo Brito National Theatre in Santo Domingo.
