Content creator Carla Campos has denied being unfaithful to her fiancé Víctor Caballero after television footage showed her with businessman Alonso Grimaldo at a nightclub.
The influencer released a video on social media to address her closeness with Grimaldo, coming one week after images broadcast on the Peruvian entertainment show Magaly TV, La Firme triggered accusations of infidelity and led to the suspension of her upcoming wedding.
Her response arrived hours after Grimaldo appeared on a podcast to give his account of the events. Grimaldo stated that he did not know Caballero and hinted that an intimate encounter had occurred with Campos, intensifying public interest in the couple's status.
Explanation of friendship
Campos explained that she had chosen to break her silence after waiting for public attention around the incident to calm down. She stated that her relationship with Grimaldo dates back several years and has always been a close friendship, noting that the pair regularly attend parties and social gatherings together as part of the same group.
Describing Grimaldo as a long-time friend whom she viewed like a sister and a close confidante, Campos firmly denied that any kiss took place between them, directly contradicting both the television broadcast and Grimaldo's podcast comments. She maintained that nothing improper occurred that evening and that they were merely dancing together as they always had.
Magaly TV, La Firme is a prominent Peruvian celebrity gossip programme presented by journalist Magaly Medina, known for broadcasting undercover footage of public figures. Campos, a prominent digital personality in Peru, is also the older sister of television actress Adriana Campos Salazar.
Evidence and admission of poor judgement
To support her account, Campos published videos and photographs from 2024 demonstrating the long-standing nature of her friendship with Grimaldo. However, she acknowledged that maintaining such physical closeness with a male friend while engaged to Caballero was inappropriate.
Campos admitted her error in failing to adjust her boundaries with friends while in a committed relationship, stating that she should not have allowed such a dynamic to continue during this period of her life.
Reaction to fiancé and wedding suspension
Reiterating that she had never been unfaithful, Campos directed criticism at Caballero, a popular digital content creator known online as Curwen. She described Caballero as a mercenary for turning the incident into a spectacle, adding that he was fully aware of her friendship with Grimaldo because she had spoken to him about it previously.
The fallout from the television footage has also drawn comments from other Peruvian media figures. Model Gabriela Serpa publicly addressed messages from social media users asking her to contact Caballero following his wedding cancellation, responding that she remains faithful in her own relationships.
