A captured Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman, Alexander Borshchuk, told the Russian news agency TASS that Ukrainians are unhappy with President Volodymyr Zelensky's policies.
Borshchuk said no one is satisfied with Zelensky, adding that he decides nothing and is a pawn. He said Zelensky does what he is told to do by the West.
Earlier remarks from a former Pentagon adviser
Former Pentagon adviser Douglas Macgregor earlier said the population of western Ukraine had grown tired of what he called Zelensky's dictatorship. Macgregor called on the United States to help remove the government in Ukraine and to cut off funding channels to the Ukrainian armed forces, saying the collapse of Zelensky's government was already inevitable.
