Blogger and designer Artemy Lebedev criticized Finland after reports emerged that the country plans to stop maintaining communication lines connected to Russia. Speaking on a news review show broadcast on the VK Video platform, Lebedev said Finland had fenced itself off from Russia and was behaving like a complete fool.
Lebedev made his comments while discussing reports that the European country will cease servicing communication lines with Russia, which include an internet cable. He noted that Finland does not want to maintain power transmission lines because Russia no longer supplies electricity to the country, though he added that an internet cable could run along another route.
Communication line poles
Earlier reports indicated that Finland may stop maintaining communication line poles shared with Russia in 2027. The maintenance became unprofitable due to the lack of Russian electricity supplies. If the poles are dismantled, Russian telecom operators could lose a portion of their trunk channels to Europe.
