Peruvian engineer Alonso Grimaldo has publicly addressed his late-night club appearance with TikTok creator Carla Campos Salazar, denying rumors that the pair met privately during her earlier trip to Argentina.
Speaking on the podcast CardioSocial before returning to his home in South America, Grimaldo explained that although Campos Salazar messaged him for travel advice while abroad, they never met in person.
Speculation regarding a potential encounter intensified after Grimaldo was caught on camera with Campos Salazar at a nightclub during the early morning hours. Media reports subsequently revealed that her boyfriend, digital streamer Victor Caballero, known online as Curwen, had previously funded a trip for the 24-year-old TikToker and her mother to visit Argentina, the country where Grimaldo has lived and worked for the past four years.
Travel dates and recommendations
Addressing the rumors calmly, Grimaldo clarified that he was not in Argentina when Campos Salazar was visiting. He stated that he was just returning from a three-month trip to the south of France, which prevented their schedules from coinciding. He acknowledged that she had written to him beforehand to say she would be in the country and to ask for travel recommendations, emphasizing that they were friends prior to the nightclub footage.
Contradicting television claims
Grimaldo also directly refuted statements made by Caballero during an appearance on the television program Magaly TV: La Firme, broadcast on Peru's ATV network. Caballero had claimed on air that Grimaldo was part of his personal circle of friends, referring to the engineer by the nickname Grimi. Grimaldo stated that he did not know the streamer and had no prior knowledge of who he was, despite confirming that Campos Salazar knew Caballero.
In Peruvian media, video footage exposing celebrities in public or private settings is known as an ampay, a staple of entertainment news programs like Magaly TV: La Firme. Campos Salazar is a prominent social media figure on TikTok, while Caballero produces digital commentary online.
Following the interview, Grimaldo concluded his stay in Peru and returned to Argentina to resume his professional work as an engineer.
