Peruvian television presenter Yaco Eskenazi has publicly complained about his wife, model Natalie Vértiz, alleging that he is forced to pay all household debts alone.
Speaking during a broadcast alongside co-host Christian 'Loco' Wagner, Eskenazi questioned how joint expenses are shared in their marriage. He stated that he carries multiple debts and claimed that he appears to be the only one condemned to pay them.
The controversy emerged during a discussion about whether couples should divide living costs evenly. Eskenazi gave a specific example involving a domestic worker employed at their home, explaining that one of their child's nannies suffered an accident and fractured her clavicle, requiring surgical intervention.
Eskenazi said he took full financial responsibility for the medical emergency. He noted that he paid for the doctor, covered all clinic fees, and handled the bank transfers himself without financial assistance from Vértiz.
Disputes Over Child Care and Travel Expenses
According to the former reality television star, the pattern extends to routine family obligations. Eskenazi said that whenever Vértiz asks him for money to cover household payments, he asks her to deduct the amount from money she previously borrowed from him.
He cited a recent conversation regarding violin lessons for one of their children and plans for a family trip. When Vértiz requested funds for the violin teacher, Eskenazi suggested she cover the fee and offset it against her debt to him. Vértiz reportedly looked at him and instructed him to simply deposit the money, leaving him to cover the payment.
Eskenazi compared his wife to Peru's national tax agency, Superintendencia Nacional de Aduanas y de Administración Tributaria, commonly known as Sunat. He remarked that Vértiz collects payments like the tax authority but fails to pay her own share, making him pay for expenses while withholding what she owes him.
Background of the Peruvian Television Couple
Eskenazi and Vértiz are well known figures on Peruvian television. Eskenazi gained national fame as a contestant and team captain on the long-running reality competition show Esto es Guerra before establishing himself as a television host. Vértiz represented Peru at the Miss Universe pageant after winning Miss Peru in 2011 and has since hosted several entertainment programs.
The couple, who married in a televised ceremony in 2015, frequently discuss their domestic life on air, though Vértiz has not issued a public response to Eskenazi's latest remarks regarding their shared financial obligations.
