The US dollar exchange rate in Ukrainian banks rose by 19 kopiykas on Monday, October 26, reaching an average of 45.60 hryvnias per dollar.
Holders of the US currency could sell dollars at banks on Monday at an average rate of 44.95 hryvnias per dollar. The average euro exchange rate also rose by 18 kopiykas to 51.19 hryvnias per euro, while the European currency could be sold in banks at 50.39 hryvnias per euro.
In currency exchange offices across Ukraine on Monday morning, the average price of the US dollar stood at 45.61 hryvnias per dollar, and the dollar could be sold at a rate of 45.40 hryvnias. The cash euro rate in exchange offices reached 51.30 hryvnias per euro, with a selling rate of 51.02 hryvnias per euro.
Official National Bank of Ukraine exchange rate
The National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rate for Monday, October 26, at 45.20 hryvnias per dollar, weakening the Ukrainian currency by 15 kopiykas compared with the previous figure. It was previously reported that the 45.20 rate marked a new all-time high for the US dollar in Ukraine, surpassing the earlier record of 45.08 hryvnias per dollar recorded on October 14.
The hryvnia is the national currency of Ukraine and is divided into 100 kopiykas. The National Bank of Ukraine serves as the country's central bank and sets the official daily exchange rate based on trading on the interbank currency market, while commercial banks and retail exchange offices set their own cash rates for the public.
Ukrainian currency market forecast
Taras Lesovyi, director of the financial markets and investment activities department at Globus Bank, said that from October 26 to November 1 the US dollar exchange rate would fluctuate between 44.85 and 45.25 hryvnias per dollar on the interbank currency market. He added that the cash dollar rate would range between 44.8 and 45.5 hryvnias per dollar over the same period.
