Three teenagers set fires in a dense pine forest along Pentelis Avenue in Ano Vrilissia as part of a dangerous challenge recorded on video. The shocking footage has sparked strong reactions after a passing driver filmed the three youths moving suspiciously at the spot, setting a fire, and immediately rushing to put it out.
ANT1 television broadcast the video on Sunday, August 9, 2026. The clip shows the minors playing with fire on Mount Pentelicus while the fire danger index was very high. Firefighters estimated the activity occurred on the outskirts of Pentelis Avenue in Ano Vrilissia, in a forest spared during the destructive 2024 fire.
Arson investigation under way
Vrilissia Civil Protection and a fire service force were notified immediately. The Arson Crimes Division of the Fire Service is now investigating the incident. According to all estimates, authorities expect it is only a matter of time before they locate the three minors and their parents.
