Streamer Curwen alleges Magaly Medina faces subpoena

Peruvian streamer Víctor Caballero, known as Curwen, has claimed that television host Magaly Medina and her husband have been subpoenaed by the Second Supreme Prosecutor's Office regarding an alleged attempt to change the judge in a defamation case involving former footballer Jefferson Farfán.

The allegations came in response to Medina airing a video on her entertainment program that purportedly showed Caballero's girlfriend, Carla Campos, kissing another man. Following the broadcast, Medina reportedly mocked Caballero on the social media platform Instagram, prompting his public retaliation.

Caballero had previously questioned the presenter's intentions in exposing the footage, suggesting there was a political motive behind the broadcast. In related developments, the father of Campos has publicly defended his daughter, stating that the images shown on television were taken out of context.

Medina is one of Peru's most prominent entertainment journalists, known for exposing the private lives of celebrities. Farfán is a former Peruvian national team forward who previously won a defamation lawsuit against Medina, a case that resulted in a suspended prison sentence and community service for the television host. Caballero operates a popular political and social commentary channel online.

Alleged judicial interference

Rather than requesting an invitation to Medina's television program to discuss the footage, Caballero chose to release information he claimed came from a fiscal folder. He specifically cited file 364-2024 from the Second Supreme Prosecutor's Office, an institution that handles high-level legal investigations in Peru.

The streamer challenged Medina to use her social media platform to answer ten questions and explain the contents of the document. He alleged that the investigation centers on whether a favor was requested to change the judge presiding over the Farfán defamation case, and questioned whether that judicial substitution actually occurred.

Caballero asked if the former president of the Superior Court, María Delfina Vidal La Rosa Sánchez, is formally under investigation in the same file.

Connections to Andrés Hurtado

The political commentator also referenced a judge referred to as "Chibolina". Caballero questioned if this judge is linked to the case of Andrés Hurtado, a well-known Peruvian television host and comedian who uses the stage name Chibolín, and whether there are connections to Medina concerning the Farfán matter.

He asked the presenter to clarify her connection to Hurtado and explain the origin of the judge's nickname.

Scheduled testimony dates

Caballero outlined specific dates for the alleged legal proceedings, claiming that Medina is scheduled to appear before authorities to testify as a witness on August 25. He further suggested that her legal status in the matter could potentially change from a witness to a person under investigation.

The streamer stated that Medina's husband, notary Alfredo Zambrano, is purportedly summoned to testify in the same investigation two days later, on August 27.

Concluding his claims, Caballero alleged that Medina had attempted to avoid arousing suspicion by requesting to change her testimony format from an in-person appearance to a virtual one. He claimed that authorities had denied this request.

Separately, Medina has recently been involved in other television disputes, questioning the departure of presenter Ethel Pozo from the Teletón charity broadcast and stating it mirrored the actions of host Gisela Valcárcel.
