Peruvian journalist and influencer Curwen has publicly acknowledged that he was mistaken after video footage surfaced showing his girlfriend, Carla Campos Salazar, dancing with Alonso Grimaldo at a nightclub in the Miraflores district of Lima.
Addressing the controversy on his podcast Habla Good, the writer admitted that he had been blinded by what he wanted to believe when he initially downplayed the footage as a simple greeting between acquaintances.
Nightclub footage and initial denial
The controversy began after a reporter from the television show Magaly TV, la firme, hosted by entertainment presenter Magaly Medina, confronted Curwen about the video. At the time, Curwen insisted that he was aware of his partner's night out on Monday, August 17, and maintained that no kiss had taken place.
However, during a subsequent broadcast of Habla Good, Curwen reconsidered his response. He stated that he felt very bad about the situation and conceded that the images spoke for themselves. After reflecting on the footage, he acknowledged that public criticism was justified and concluded that something had occurred in the venue that should not have happened.
In Peruvian show business reporting, undercover video footage depicting public figures in secretive or affectionate situations is widely known as an ampay. The term was popularized by host Magaly Medina, whose investigative team regularly broadcasts unseen recordings of media personalities.
Podcast reaction and relationship status
Despite the emotional toll, Curwen chose to approach part of the podcast discussion with humor. Alongside his co-host Tonino, the influencer recreated scene by scene the nightclub interactions captured in the broadcast report.
Curwen also made light of the coverage by Magaly Medina. He commented that he felt Medina had produced the investigative segment out of genuine concern for his relationship status and emotional well-being, ruling out political motives or a desire to mock him.
While discussing the video openly, Curwen declined to provide further details regarding specific elements of the recording. He did not clarify whether he and Carla Campos Salazar remain together or if the nightclub incident resulted in the end of their relationship.
