SKY Airline has announced three new routes from Peru as part of its growth strategy in the market: Cusco-Santiago, Lima-Rio de Janeiro and Lima-Puerto Maldonado. With these additions, the airline will reach seven direct international routes and 17 domestic routes from the country.
The first connection to begin operating will be Cusco-Santiago, starting January 3, 2027, with a daily flight during the summer season. The route will directly connect Cusco with Chile and offer an alternative for passengers travelling between the two markets without going through Lima.
Then, starting December 28, 2026, SKY will connect Lima with Rio de Janeiro, which will become its second destination in Brazil from the Peruvian capital, after Sao Paulo. The operation will begin with a daily flight during the summer and will serve both tourist and business travellers.
In the domestic market, the airline will resume the Lima-Puerto Maldonado route on March 1, 2027, also with a daily frequency. This route will complement the Cusco-Puerto Maldonado connection that SKY already operates and will directly link Lima with the Peruvian Amazon.
Peru's growing role in SKY's network
The new routes are part of a strategy aimed at expanding the country's connections with international markets and strengthening access to domestic destinations. The airline said the new operations are intended to generate opportunities for tourism, investment and regional development.
The network's growth comes as Peru gains weight within SKY's overall operation. Since starting activities in the country in 2019, the airline has carried more than 18 million passengers, and the Peruvian operation now accounts for 30% of the holding's total.
Fares and launch promotions
Tickets for the new routes are already on sale. Round-trip fares for Cusco-Santiago start from US$283 or S/963; for Lima-Rio de Janeiro-Lima, from US$471 or S/1,601; and for Lima-Puerto Maldonado, from US$77 or S/262 one way.
As a launch promotion, the Lima-Rio de Janeiro and Santiago-Cusco routes will offer a 50% discount on fares for children between 2 and 13 years old.
The expansion also includes a new connection in Chile, Santiago-Punta Cana, which will reinforce the airline's international offering during the summer season, one of the periods of highest demand among Chilean passengers.
Corporate restructuring with Abra Group
SKY's expansion also comes at a time of change in its corporate structure. Gestion reported on August 22, 2026, that SKY Airline and Abra Group had advanced a share exchange agreement after obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
As part of the deal, SKY shareholders will receive an equity stake in Abra Group, while ownership of the airline will be transferred to a new, independent company responsible for overseeing its operations.
The agreed structure provides for SKY to keep operating independently. According to Gestion, Abra Group is seeking through the transaction to expand its presence in Chile and Peru and strengthen its air transport network across Latin America.
The share exchange has not yet taken effect. The operation will be completed once the requirements and procedures established for the closing of the transaction have been met.
SKY is a Chilean low-cost airline with a presence in seven countries across the Americas and operations from bases in Chile and Peru. Since its first flight in 2001, it has carried more than 80 million passengers.
