The Ignatian Volunteer Service of the Dominican Republic, known as SERVIR-D, will host its tenth conference-workshop dedicated to corporate volunteering for older adults in Santo Domingo on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
The day-long event, titled Corporate Volunteering at the Service of Older Adults, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Gran Salón at the Hotel Sheraton in the Dominican capital.
Organisers said corporate volunteering should move beyond isolated, one-off activities to become a strategic tool for sustainable change that responds to specific community needs.
SERVIR-D is a non-profit organisation based in the Dominican Republic that trains, accompanies, and strengthens volunteer networks. Its mission centers on promoting a service culture committed to supporting vulnerable populations across the Caribbean nation.
Keynote address and morning presentations
The morning agenda will open with a keynote presentation by Rodrigo Segura, the executive director of Fundación NTD.
Fundación NTD acts as the Satellite Center for Central America and the Caribbean for the United Nations International Institute on Ageing, an agency established under UN auspices to address global demographic trends and elderly care.
Noris Rojas de Pérez, manager of interinstitutional relations at Dominican pension fund administrator AFP Popular, will then present initiatives developed by her institution to support older adults.
The morning sessions will continue with a panel discussion featuring representatives from financial institution Banco BHD, charitable organisation Sociedad San Vicente de Paul, and Action for the Well-being of Older Adults, known as ABAM.

Panel members will share their experiences and perspectives on how the private sector can build corporate volunteering programs aimed at improving quality of life for senior citizens.
Afternoon workshop and practical tools
The afternoon schedule will focus on a practical workshop designed to translate morning discussions into actionable corporate strategies.
Berenice Méndez, a specialist in corporate communication and sustainability, will lead the workshop alongside Elba Polanco, a social gerontologist and coordinator of the Senior Adult Project at the United Nations Population Fund.
The United Nations Population Fund, known as UNFPA, is the lead UN agency monitoring population dynamics, demographic changes, and social welfare programs globally.
The session aims to equip corporate representatives with practical tools to design volunteer programs capable of driving real social transformations and creating sustainable initiatives focused on elderly welfare.
SERVIR-D representatives noted that the initiative aims to open a broader dialogue on how businesses can maintain consistent involvement in fostering well-being, social inclusion, participation, and dignity for older adults.
