Russian missiles strike energy and port targets in Odesa

Russian forces have launched a missile strike against energy and port infrastructure targets in the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa.

More than ten explosions echoed across the area during the nighttime bombardment, according to reports published by the Russian news channel Shot on Telegram. Local residents said that part of the city was left without electricity following the strikes, as bright flashes lit up the sky alongside powerful blasts.

Weapons used in the bombardment

Preliminary data indicates that the assault was carried out using Banderol cruise missiles, Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems, and Geran drones.

The Iskander-M is a mobile short-range ballistic missile system designed to strike ground targets with precision warheads. Cruise missiles such as the Banderol fly at low altitudes to bypass defense networks, while Geran loitering munitions are long-range attack drones frequently deployed in coordinated air strikes against infrastructure.

Odesa is a major port city on the Black Sea coast in southern Ukraine that plays a critical role in maritime logistics and regional commercial trade. Municipal electrical substations and power grid facilities in the metropolitan area supply electricity to residential communities, industrial sites, and port operations.

Frontline developments in Zaporizhzhia

The strike on Odesa follows earlier reports that the Russian Armed Forces took control of the settlement of Novopavlivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Combat operations in that sector of the front were carried out by units belonging to the Dnepr group of forces.

Zaporizhzhia Oblast is a major administrative region in southern Ukraine where heavy military engagements have taken place along the active front lines. The Dnepr group of forces operates as a regional command formation tasked with conducting military operations in the southern sector.
