Sixteen street dancers will compete at the Red Bull Dance Your Style Greek national final in Thessaloniki on Saturday, September 19, aiming to win a spot at the global championship.
The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the outdoor plaza amphitheatre of the Mediterranean Cosmos commercial center. The winner of the evening will earn the right to represent Greece at the international final in Zurich, Switzerland, on October 24.
The sixteen finalists secured their places following qualification rounds held in Athens and Thessaloniki. Unlike conventional dance competitions, the event features no official panel of judges. Instead, the winner of each one-on-one battle is chosen live by the attending crowd.
Dancers will compete in a freestyle format without restrictions on style or technique. Street dance encompasses various urban disciplines such as hip-hop, popping, locking, and breaking. Competitors rely on their personal energy, individual character, and connection with the audience to navigate each elimination round.
Audience voting and global championship
Red Bull Dance Your Style is an international street dance competition series known for its audience-led judging format. Dancers are challenged by unpredictable tracks across different musical genres, testing their improvisation skills and crowd engagement. Thessaloniki, the second-largest city in Greece, serves as the host location for the Greek national edition before the winner moves on to Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland.
Alongside the tournament battles, the event will feature musical acts and dance showcases. Greek singer and performer LILA, who holds multi-platinum and diamond certifications, is scheduled to deliver a special live music performance. The Volcanoz Cheerleading team will also take the stage to present a dance show.
Hosts and musical line-up
Rapper 12os Pithikos and host Saspens will lead the evening's proceedings, signaling the start of each battle and encouraging competitors throughout the show. 12os Pithikos will also perform his own tracks to excite the audience during the event. DJ Amazeme will handle the music from the decks throughout the night.
Mediterranean Cosmos, located in eastern Thessaloniki, is a major retail and entertainment complex in northern Greece featuring an open-air amphitheatre used for public cultural gatherings. The national final brings together top talent from across the country before the international championship takes place in October.
