Quito police arrest four suspects, rescue kidnap victim

National Police officers in Quito arrested three adults and detained one minor on Saturday, August 8, after raiding a house to rescue a kidnapped victim. Authorities said the operation in the historic center of Quito dismantled an alleged organized gang involved in robbery and extortion.

According to a police report, officers entered the home during the early morning raid and freed the victim trapped inside. Paramedics then evaluated the victim's medical condition. Police also recovered a stolen vehicle and two mobile phones that the suspects used to coordinate criminal activity.

Suspect background and investigation

Police reported that the minor had been arrested twice before for drug trafficking, while two of the adult suspects also had active criminal records. Officers gathered evidence at the scene to help determine the suspects' roles and the number of crimes committed in the area.

Investigators will evaluate the evidence and present it to a judicial authority. The judge will decide whether the suspects remain in custody or receive alternative measures.
