The Pueblo Libre Municipality has implemented a road closure around Avenida Brasil for a Gala Concert marking the district 469th anniversary.
Traffic restrictions began at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, and will remain in place until 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24. Municipal authorities recommended that drivers plan their journeys in advance and use designated alternate routes to avoid delays.
The vehicular closure specifically affects blocks 1, 2, and 3 of Avenida General Manuel Vivanco near the oval at Avenida Brasil. Restrictions also cover part of Calle Antonio Polo near its intersection with Jirón José Santiago Wagner.
In an official map released by the municipality, restricted sectors are marked in red and yellow. Detour routes enabled to bypass the area are designated with magenta arrows.
Pueblo Libre is a historic district located in the Lima Province of Peru. Founded in the 16th century, the urban municipality is home to key residential and commercial thoroughfares, including Avenida Brasil, which acts as a major arterial avenue connecting several central districts across Lima.
Alternate routes for drivers
The municipality outlined specific alternate paths for drivers needing to navigate around the closed perimeter. Drivers traveling south along Avenida Antonio José de Sucre are advised to turn left onto Jirón Cabo Nicolás Gutarra and head east.
From there, motorists should continue to Avenida Brasil, turn left to head north, and then take Calle Antonio Polo west until reaching Avenida General Manuel Cipriano Dulanto.
Vehicles should then turn right onto Avenida José Leguía y Meléndez toward the northwest, before turning east onto Avenida Paso de los Andes to rejoin their regular route.
Municipal officials added that drivers can also use Avenida Manuel Cipriano Dulanto to travel between Avenida Brasil and Avenida Antonio José de Sucre, as a large portion of that avenue remains open to traffic throughout the celebration.
