The Russian Embassy in Lisbon confirmed the diplomatic summons to state news agency RIA Novosti, noting that the meeting was scheduled for 11:30 am local time, which corresponds to 1:30 pm in Moscow.
Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel announced on Wednesday, September 2, that the diplomat would be called in following formal accusations raised by German authorities against Moscow concerning unmanned aircraft operations in the vicinity of the Leipzig facility.
Germany officially accused Russia on Tuesday, September 1, of carrying out an attack targeting the Leipzig airport. Alexander Dobrindt, the German Federal Minister of the Interior, stated that Berlin holds Moscow responsible for the drone disruptions. Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected the allegations.
