Clinical psychologist Paola Michelle Cruz Garcia, representing Santiago de los Caballeros, has been crowned Miss International Dominican Republic 2026 in Santo Domingo.
Cruz Garcia will represent the Dominican Republic at the Miss International global pageant final on November 25 at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Tokyo, Japan. She will compete against delegates from more than 80 countries for the international crown.
During the national competition, Cruz Garcia stood out for her stage presence and her strong social commitment. A clinical psychologist by profession, she has advocated for mental health awareness, education, and care as fundamental pillars for overall well-being. She represented Santiago de los Caballeros, the second largest city in the Caribbean nation.
The coronation ceremony took place in the halls of the Hotel InterContinental Real Santo Domingo in the capital city. The gala brought together family members, friends, pageant experts known as missologists, and members of the news media.
Pageant Organization and Musical Performances
General production for the event was managed by Magalis Febles, who serves as director of the pageant and of Miss Universe Dominican Republic. Event coordination and direction were led by Saul Perez, Juan Francisco, known as La Pitonisa, and Nelson Munoz.
The evening featured live entertainment from Dominican tropical music singer Manerra and Venezuelan salsa artist Lemar, who performed for the attending crowd.
International Guests and Diplomatic Mission
The gala featured special appearances by Catalina Duque, the reigning Miss International queen, and Stephen Diaz, Executive Director of the Miss International Beauty Pageant.
Organizers said the official visit represented an invaluable opportunity to strengthen cultural ties between Japan and the Dominican Republic. The event also consolidated the Caribbean nation's presence in the pageant, which was founded in 1960.
Beyond the crown and runway, Miss International is recognized for its humanitarian and diplomatic focus. Managed by the International Culture Association of Japan, the pageant aims to train women leaders to serve as ambassadors of peace and goodwill, dedicated to fostering friendship and cultural understanding among nations worldwide.
