The National Bank of Ukraine set the official exchange rate for Friday, August 7, weakening the hryvnia by 7 kopecks to 44.76 hryvnias per U.S. dollar. Data from the regulator website showed the Ukrainian currency also lost 4 kopecks against the euro, with the official rate set at 51.67 hryvnias per euro.
By 16:00 on the interbank foreign exchange market of Ukraine, hryvnia quotations against the dollar stood at 44.79 to 44.82 hryvnias per dollar. Interbank quotes against the euro reached 51.71 to 51.73 hryvnias per euro.
Commercial bank rates
Commercial banks in Ukraine on August 6 lowered the dollar rate by 1 kopeck to an average of 44.96 hryvnias per dollar, while buying U.S. currency from customers at an average rate of 44.44 hryvnias. The average euro rate in commercial banks rose 8 kopecks to 51.90 hryvnias per euro, with buying rates at 51.29 hryvnias.
At PrivatBank, the dollar exchange rate remained unchanged at 44.90 hryvnias per dollar, with customer sales at 44.30 hryvnias. PrivatBank raised its euro rate by 5 kopecks to 51.95 hryvnias per euro, while buying foreign currency at 50.95 hryvnias per euro.
