The National Bank of Ukraine strengthened the hryvnia against the US dollar to 44.69 for August 6 while the currency weakened against the euro to 51.63.

National Bank of Ukraine strengthens hryvnia to 44.69

The National Bank of Ukraine set the official US dollar exchange rate for Thursday, August 6, at 44.69 hryvnias per dollar, strengthening the Ukrainian currency by 6 kopecks compared to the previous figure.

According to data on the regulator's website, the hryvnia weakened against the euro, with the official European currency rate for Thursday set at 51.63 hryvnias per euro, representing a loss of 9 kopecks. On the Ukrainian interbank foreign exchange market by 16:00, hryvnia quotes stood at 44.72 to 44.75 hryvnias per dollar and 51.67 to 51.69 hryvnias per euro.

Commercial bank exchange rates

In Ukrainian banks on August 5, the dollar exchange rate fell by 11 kopecks to 44.97 hryvnias per dollar, while the American currency could be sold at an average rate of 44.48 hryvnias per dollar. The average euro rate dropped by 16 kopecks to 51.82 hryvnias per euro, with the European currency available to sell at an average rate of 51.21 hryvnias per euro.

At PrivatBank, the dollar rate dropped by 15 kopecks to 44.90 hryvnias per dollar, and the euro rate cheapened by 10 kopecks to 51.90 hryvnias per euro. Customers could sell the American currency at the bank at a rate of 44.30 hryvnias per dollar and the euro at a rate of 50.90 hryvnias per unit.
