The National Bank of Ukraine has introduced two new 10-hryvnia circulating commemorative coins into circulation to honor the unity of Ukraine and its regions. The new coins feature Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and Kirovohrad Oblast as part of the central bank's ongoing thematic series titled We Are Strong, We Are Together.
According to the central bank's press service, both coins have a face value of 10 hryvnias and share an obverse design identical to the standard 10-hryvnia circulating coin introduced in 2018. The reverse side features a stylized map of Ukraine with clearly outlined administrative borders highlighting the territory of each featured region.
The regulator announced that two million pieces of each coin will gradually enter cash circulation. A portion of the mintage is packaged in specially designed rolls, with each roll containing 25 coins and limited to a production run of 15,000 units.
Coin designs and regional background
The National Bank of Ukraine functions as the country's central monetary authority from its headquarters in Kyiv and regularly issues thematic currency. Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is a major industrial and economic hub located in central-eastern Ukraine, while Kirovohrad Oblast sits in the central agricultural region of the country.
Previous Ukrainian commemorative coins
The new issue builds on several other commemorative coins released by the central bank in recent months. On August 24, the National Bank introduced a coin marking the 35th Anniversary of Independence of Ukraine. That coin has a face value of 20 hryvnias, is crafted from 925 fine silver with patination and local gilding, and has a mintage capped at 5,000 pieces.
Earlier in July, the regulator released a coin titled Ukrainian Cotton. Sea Drone Sea Baby, dedicated to the naval drone complex developed by the Security Service of Ukraine. The issue highlights the uncrewed surface vessel built by Ukrainian security specialists to carry out combat missions across the Black Sea.
