Peruvian singer Naldy Saldaña has publicly denied rumors of a romantic relationship with La Bella Luz musical director César Sánchez Chavesta following her misconduct report. The 26-year-old performer, born in Morropón, Piura, appeared on the television program Magaly TV: la firme to address claims about her time with the cumbia group. Saldaña previously filed a complaint against the 50-year-old director for improper touching and shared video evidence to support her allegations.
Saldaña, who spent three years as one of the longest-standing members of La Bella Luz, rejected assertions that she had been in a relationship with Sánchez Chavesta while they worked together. She stated during the broadcast that she expected such rumors to surface after making her accusations public. She described attempts to cover up evident workplace misconduct with claims about her personal life as extremely low, adding that several people had already alerted her to the rumors.
According to Saldaña, the false claims were intended to divert attention from her formal complaint against the director. She used her television appearance to make a national call for justice, stating that she wanted to protect other women from facing similar treatment in their workplaces or elsewhere. Saldaña said that while coming forward was difficult, she felt responsible for bringing the situation to light so that no one else would have to endure the same ordeal.
Suspension of group director
Following the report of improper touching filed by Saldaña, La Bella Luz owner Óscar Custodio announced that Sánchez Chavesta had been separated from the orchestra. Custodio, who is the cousin of the accused director, confirmed the decision in an official statement issued by the group.
The cumbia organization stated that Sánchez Chavesta was removed from his duties as an immediate and indefinite measure while relevant authorities conduct their investigation. La Bella Luz added that it remains fully available to assist police and judicial officials by providing all necessary support to resolve the matter.
