A 34-year-old local resident in the Moscow region has been charged with murder after police recorded video of him discussing his victim.
Investigators released operational footage showing the suspect pointing out where he threw dismembered body parts into a ravine near a residential building.
The regional department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported the details to news outlet Lenta.ru. Officials confirmed the man faces formal charges under Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code, the legal statute covering murder.
In the operational footage, the suspect pointed to the spot where he dumped the victim's hip joint on his third trip to the area. The body part was wrapped inside a bag and a plastic package.
Preliminary findings show that a conflict erupted between two men over jealousy regarding the suspect's live-in partner. During the brawl, one of the men pulled out a knife and stabbed his opponent, who did not survive.
Crime Scene Investigation
Following the fatal stabbing, the perpetrator dismembered the body to hide evidence of the crime. He packed the remains into plastic bags and threw them into a ravine near a residential building on Leninsky Komsomol Avenue.
The Moscow region, also known as Podmoskovye, surrounds the Russian capital. Major crimes across the region are investigated by the Investigative Committee of Russia, the federal agency responsible for serious criminal prosecutions. Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code carries prison sentences for intentional homicide.
Detectives initially identified the suspect after locating plastic bags containing human remains, which led investigators directly to an acquaintance of the victim.
Investigative officers and forensic specialists inspected the crime scene, gathered evidence, and seized the murder weapon. They also conducted formal interrogations and brought the accused back to the scene for an official verification of testimony.
The regional investigative department has appointed a series of forensic examinations to complete the investigation.
