A resident of Melitopol born in 1982 has been sentenced to 24 years in prison by the Southern District Military Court for high treason and preparing explosive stashes for terrorist attacks in Russia.
The man was convicted of multiple offences under the Russian criminal code and will serve his sentence in a strict regime penal colony. Russia's state news agency TASS reported the ruling on 28 August 2026, citing the Public Relations Centre of the Federal Security Service. The court also ordered the defendant to pay a fine of 600,000 rubles.
Law enforcement officials stated that the defendant joined a terrorist community established by Ukrainian special services in 2022. According to Russian investigators, the man acted under the direction of handlers to retrieve explosives and electronic components from hidden caches. He then transported the materials and stored them in newly prepared stashes across the region.

The Southern District Military Court found the defendant guilty under three separate provisions of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. These included Article 275 for high treason, Part 2 of Article 205.4 for participation in a terrorist community, and Part 4 of Article 222.1 for the illegal trafficking of explosives or explosive devices.
