Cruz told Motiff that he wanted him to understand that he would perform that song with Guerra. When the producer expressed surprise at the statement, Cruz responded with determination, saying he did not know how it would happen, but that it would be so and that he was decreeing it that day.
Despite his initial excitement, Cruz recognized that the timing was not yet right. He chose to wait three years before presenting the material to the veteran musician.
In January 2025, Cruz finally showed the song to Guerra. A few months later, Guerra gave his formal approval for the joint project.
Cruz recalled that he could not believe the news when Guerra agreed, reflecting on his intense excitement and thinking how incredible the opportunity was. The two artists then navigated a lengthy scheduling process to coordinate their respective calendars for recording.
Describing the finished track, Cruz said that standing alongside Guerra, sharing a song with him, and hearing their voices paired together was total madness.

Beyond fulfilling a professional dream, Cruz used the production to honor his family background. His late father was Cuban, and Cruz sought to incorporate that heritage into the arrangement of the song.
Cruz explained that he wanted to inject a portion of his Cuban blood into the musical release. Merengue traditional recordings rely heavily on electric bass, but Cruz opted for acoustic bass and the Cuban tres, a three-course chordophone instrument central to traditional Cuban son music.
He noted that these instrumentation choices were designed to bring a subtle taste of Cuban son to the Dominican rhythm. Watching the completed music video, Cruz admitted that he still finds it hard to believe that Guerra agreed to the project and enjoyed the process as much as he did.
Sacrifices and Faith Across a Decade
Reflecting on his ten years as a solo artist since debuting with Sobrenatural, Cruz pointed to patience as one of his greatest lessons. He noted that he had learned that events do not always occur on an individual's preferred timeline.
Faith has played a central role in his career journey. Cruz explained that while he prays to God every night regarding his aspirations, he understands the necessity of waiting for the appropriate moment, affirming that things have their time.
That mindset has helped Cruz navigate the personal sacrifices demanded by his music career, particularly regarding family life. He has endured long periods of separation from his mother and brother, who reside in the United States.
The artist also experienced the death of his father nine years ago, an event that continues to affect him deeply. Cruz confessed that sacrificing time with his father during his final years of life sometimes hits him hard and makes him feel very bad.
Despite those ongoing personal challenges, Cruz expressed profound gratitude for his professional journey. He stated that the Lord has given him more than he ever imagined.

Cruz said he would love for his merengue songs to be heard in Japan and China, and expressed his goal to headline Madison Square Garden in New York. He added that he visualizes those achievements happening in the future.
