A memorial plaque honouring the actress Lydia Fedoseyeva-Shukshina may appear in Moscow in 10 years, a city lawmaker has announced.

Moscow City Duma deputy and People's Artist of Russia Yevgeny Gerasimov confirmed the prospective timeline when answering a question regarding the tribute, according to comments reported by news agency RIA Novosti.
Gerasimov explained that official discussions for every commemorative plaque take place only after 10 years have passed, adding that municipal authorities would return to the question once that interval has elapsed.
Moscow memorial regulations
The Moscow City Duma operates as the regional parliament for the Russian capital, holding authority over local legislation, civic honours and the approval of public monuments across the city. Gerasimov, a veteran Russian stage and screen actor who holds the state title of People's Artist of Russia, serves as a deputy in the municipal legislature.
Fedoseyeva-Shukshina died on the evening of November 6 at the age of 88. The celebrated performer had spent the final weeks of her life in hospital after being admitted for medical care in the middle of October.
Unfinished memorial museum
Before her death, Fedoseyeva-Shukshina had been working to establish a dedicated museum to preserve the memory of her former husband, Vasily Shukshin. Lawyer Yulia Verbitskaya-Linnik reported earlier that the actress did not manage to open the memorial museum before passing away.
According to the lawyer, the actress had spent extensive time carefully and scrupulously assembling an archive for the planned museum. Shukshin was an acclaimed Soviet writer, film director and screen actor who died in 1974, and the couple had collaborated on several classic Soviet films during their marriage.
Fedoseyeva-Shukshina was widely regarded as one of the leading figures of Soviet and Russian cinema, building a prominent acting career that spanned more than six decades and included roles in dozens of major film productions.
Under the commemorative process outlined by Gerasimov, any official proposal to install a memorial plaque at a residence or site connected to the actress will remain on hold until the 10-year waiting period is complete.
