Leonid Slutsky, chairman of Russia's Liberal Democratic Party, has called to declare the Yabloko party an undesirable organization over its Ukraine peace proposal.
Slutsky, who also heads the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, announced the demand on his Telegram channel. He noted that former party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky warned in 2021 that Yabloko would eventually be designated as undesirable for such ideas, adding that the time had come.
Slutsky compared Yabloko's proposals to the 1918 Brest Peace, which he said cost the country millions of Russian people. He stated that signing a peace deal with a bloody clown would mean surrendering Donbas and Novorossiya, betraying citizens, and wiping out the sacrifices of soldiers confronting the Nazi regime at the cost of their lives.
Objections from political rivals
He added that calling the initiative a peace plan was impossible, arguing that implementing Yabloko's proposals would amount to capitulation and betrayal of Russia, the Russian World, and Russian civilization.
Earlier, Rodina party chairman Aleksey Zhuravlev claimed that Yabloko's election campaign was funded from abroad. Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov also criticized Yabloko, stating that the party fails to support statehood and has never condemned crimes by the Kyiv regime during the military conflict.
