Russian television presenter and psychologist Larisa Surkova has revealed that she is suffering from severe knee pain caused by a degenerative meniscus tear.

The host of the Channel One program Ask Surkova shared the health update with followers on her personal Instagram profile, explaining that she recently had to undergo another medical procedure to manage the condition.
Surkova said that the problem first surfaced in the spring when she woke up one morning and found herself completely unable to walk down the stairs. She explained that this specific downward movement caused terrible pain, which medical examinations later confirmed was a degenerative tear in the cartilage of her knee joint.
Knee joint damage and plasma treatment
To treat the injury, the presenter explained that she began receiving periodic plasmolifting injections directly into the joint. She stated that she had recently undergone another plasma session in the morning, noting that her knee was still hurting severely throughout the day.
A meniscus tear involves damage to the tough, rubbery cartilage that cushions the bones of the knee joint. Degenerative tears develop gradually over time through physical wear and repetitive stress as joint tissues weaken, rather than through sudden acute athletic impacts. Sufferers frequently experience joint stiffness, swelling, and sharp pain during weight-bearing movements, particularly when walking down stairs or bending the leg.
Plasmolifting, also known as platelet-rich plasma therapy, is a clinical procedure where medical staff draw a patient's own blood and spin it in a centrifuge to isolate concentrated platelets. Doctors then reinject the prepared plasma into injured joints and soft tissues to reduce local inflammation, promote cellular recovery, and provide relief from chronic pain without immediate surgical intervention.
Television career and personal life
Surkova is widely known across Russia as a professional psychologist, parenting specialist, and author. She serves as the host of Ask Surkova on Channel One, Russia's prominent state-backed national television network, where she provides family advice and psychological guidance to viewers.
The health disclosure follows a major transition in the television host's personal life. Surkova previously announced that she was divorcing her husband after 30 years of marriage, having noted that the couple had already been living apart for the preceding 10 to 11 months.
