Greek fashion designer Lakis Gavalas turned 74 on Thursday, August 6, sharing a birthday message on Instagram in which he said he still feels healthy, capable and creative.

Gavalas posted photos of himself posing with a bottle of champagne, a glass and a birthday cake. In the caption, he reflected on the love and appreciation he said he continues to receive from the public.
He also wrote about his parents, his early years and the path his life and career had taken since.
Gavalas on his birth and parents
In the caption, Gavalas said that on that same date, the day of the Transfiguration of the Savior, 74 years earlier, his mother, whom he called Kyra Tzovanna, and his father, Kyr Dionysis, had brought their first-born son into the world.
He described his life since then as filled with school bells, theater bells, and what he called bells for his own bold and daring flair, a reference to his standing as a fashion figure.
Gratitude for his life and career
Gavalas said that up to the present moment, his journey has been accompanied by what he called unlimited love and appreciation from people around him.
He said he feels grateful for everything that has happened in his life, adding that he still feels healthy, capable and creative.
He credited joy, happiness and discipline, which he referred to as the three ladies who fortify and protect him, for that continued sense of wellbeing.
