Greek singer Giannis Charoulis paid tribute to fellow musician Giorgos Mazonakis during a concert on Tuesday evening, days after Mazonakis died at the age of 54.

Charoulis told the crowd he had been deeply saddened by the news of Mazonakis's death. He said his colleague had been special, someone who had always remained like a child, genuine like a child, the way children ought to be: free.
He wished Mazonakis a good journey and a good paradise, and the audience responded with applause.
A lesson from his final concerts
Charoulis also spoke of a "lesson" he said he had taken from Mazonakis. He explained that he had come across a video from one of Mazonakis's last concerts, in which the singer told his audience that he was thankful and did not take their support for granted, adding that nothing in life is guaranteed.
Charoulis said that in his passing, Mazonakis had left him with exactly that lesson. He repeated his farewell, wishing Mazonakis well and a good paradise, and said twice that it was a shame, a real shame.
