Peruvian actress Erika Villalobos has revealed for the first time how she discovered her ex-husband Aldo Miyashiro was unfaithful before national media exposed him.
Speaking in a television interview with journalist Andrea Llosa, Villalobos explained that she warned her family hours before show business program Magaly TV, la firme broadcast footage of the television presenter kissing producer Fiorella Retiz. She revealed that Miyashiro subsequently begged for forgiveness and sought to reconcile, paying a heavy price for his actions.

Villalobos recalled that she learned about the infidelity when a broadcast preview was released online, confirming to her that the man featured in the clip was indeed Miyashiro. Before the full episode aired that evening, she reached out to her family to prepare them. She told her children what was about to happen and called her mother, advising her not to worry because everything would be fine.
Despite the emotional pain, the actress stated that the betrayal itself was the least difficult part of the situation. The hardest burden was the sudden public exposure forced upon her family, as strangers in the street voiced unsolicited opinions ranging from telling her to forgive him to calling Miyashiro a scoundrel. She noted that while her former husband asked to resume their relationship after realizing the massive fallout he caused, he ultimately had to pay dearly for his decisions.
Betrayal and early career struggles
When asked by Llosa, a prominent Peruvian interviewer known for high-profile human-interest television specials, whether she still loved Miyashiro when the scandal erupted, Villalobos confirmed firmly that love still existed between them at that time.
Beyond her marital breakdown, Villalobos reflected on earlier hardships in her life, revealing that she suffered severe depression following her work on the hit Peruvian telenovela Torbellino. Torbellino was a landmark 1997 Peruvian youth drama and musical ensemble that achieved nationwide popularity and launched several major careers in Peruvian television.
However, Villalobos explained that following her success on the show, the Peruvian television industry experienced a sharp downturn, ushering in a period of economic hardship for local productions. During that difficult phase, she struggled to meet basic financial obligations and could not afford to pay her debts.
Her financial crisis was further compounded when she suffered two car crashes and lost two pet dogs in short succession. She reflected that young actors are rarely equipped with the resilience needed to cope with such overwhelming adversity early in their careers.
New chapters for Villalobos and Miyashiro
Years after the public scandal, both Villalobos and Miyashiro have established new romantic relationships. Villalobos found love again with her boyfriend Erik Zapata, who recently expressed his affection publicly on social media by describing how easy it was to love her.
Meanwhile, Miyashiro is currently in a relationship with young actress Gia Rosalino. Rosalino recently shared details about their domestic life, confirming that they currently reside together with one of Miyashiro and Villalobos's children.
