Actor and comedian Carlos Alcántara defended himself against criticism for going out with younger women following his separation from his wife Jossie Lindley. The 61-year-old performer said he is enjoying his life and refuses to let age prejudices dictate his personal choices.
Alcántara, also known as Cachín, announced his separation from Lindley in February 2026 after more than 31 years together. Social media posts and public appearances showing him accompanied by younger women generated criticism from people who labeled him a dirty old man.
Response to public criticism
Speaking in an interview with Trome, the star of La Gran Sangre rejected the label and asked if he was expected to date only women of his own age. He explained that he is not in a formal relationship and stated that his choices do not harm anyone.
Alcántara said that if a younger woman shows interest in him, it is an option, though he clarified he is not looking for an 18-year-old girlfriend. He added that he puts no limits on age, noting that he recently met a much older woman whom he found beautiful in her physical appearance, conversation, demeanor, and perfume.
Personal life after separation
Asked if he is experiencing a second adolescence at 61, Alcántara said that a person cannot abandon themselves at his age. He asked if critics expected him to refrain from going out and dancing to care for grandchildren he does not yet have, reiterating that he is enjoying himself.
Regarding Lindley, Alcántara expressed deep admiration for his ex-wife beyond their breakup. He also completely ruled out having been unfaithful to her during their marriage, stating that nothing will appear to disprove what he asserts.
