Background on Corazon Serrano and Peruvian cumbia
Corazon Serrano is one of Peru's most recognized tropical music groups, specializing in northern cumbia. Founded in the northern region of Piura, the band built a national and international following over several decades, known for featuring talented female vocalists alongside a full live orchestra.
Cumbia is a widely popular music genre across Latin America, combining rhythmic beats, tropical percussion, and vocal harmonies. Trujillo, a major city in northwestern Peru where the farewell concert took place, frequently hosts high-profile musical events and private entertainments for top national acts.
Cirilo's departure marks the end of a major chapter in her artistic career, leaving Corazon Serrano to continue its scheduled performances as the group moves forward following her final appearance on stage.
