Benson Boone postponed a concert in Sacramento, California, on Saturday, August 8, after running into trouble with his voice, canceling the show only hours before he was due on stage.
The Grammy-nominated singer had been scheduled to perform in Sacramento as part of his Wanted Man Tour. Shortly before the show was set to begin, he announced that he would not be able to go on after all.
Boone's apology to fans
In an Instagram story, Boone apologized to his fans and explained that he had done everything he could to get his voice back in shape. He said he was very sorry but would not be able to perform that night in Sacramento.
Boone said he had fought like crazy all afternoon trying to get his voice ready for that day's concert, but that it simply was not in a condition that allowed him to sing. He acknowledged that the cancellation was extremely disappointing, especially for everyone who had traveled to be there, and said he was disappointed too. He added that he hated nothing more than disappointing his fans.
He went on to say that the concert would be rescheduled for a new date, which would be announced soon. Boone said he and his team were working out next steps and that he would update fans as soon as he had news, but that the show would be put back on the calendar as quickly as possible. He said he would see fans soon, thanked them sincerely for standing by him, and told them he loved them very much, signing off with the initial "B."
Venue confirms postponement
The venue where the concert was set to take place also issued a statement confirming the postponement. In a post on Instagram, it clarified that the show had been called off for health reasons.
