Traffic in Barcelona and its metropolitan area faces several disruptions on Wednesday, September 30, as ongoing roadworks restrict access to the Rambla and force bus detours in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The Rambla's southbound lane towards the sea remains restricted to residents, emergency services and car park access. La Rambla is a major thoroughfare in central Barcelona, known for its busy pedestrian central promenade. Amics de la Rambla, a local business and residents' association, said the traffic reorganisation began on September 29.
Although Tallers street has reopened and normal traffic flow has been restored on Xuclà and Bonsuccés streets, construction continues in the central section of the promenade. For public transport users, the number 59 bus heading to Poblenou continues to run along Via Laietana. Authorities have not yet confirmed when the bus will return to its standard route.
Commercial delivery hours have also changed. Loading and unloading on the Rambla is now strictly limited to designated zones between 08:00 and 12:00, and is not permitted outside this window.
L'Hospitalet bus detours
In the neighbouring municipality of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, the Barcelona metropolitan transport authority, AMB Mobilitat, has announced changes to bus routes on Barcelona street. The L20, LH2, M12 and M15 lines will be diverted from 08:00 on Wednesday until approximately 06:00 on Friday, October 2.
Six bus stops have been temporarily suspended along the route. The cancelled stops, identified by their specific codes, include:
- La Farga (101323, 106845 and 108653)
- Barcelona, Rbla. Just Oliveras (101328)
- Col·legi Tecla Sala (101334)
- Av. Josep Tarradellas, Sant Joan (109222)
- Estació Rodalies (109223)
- Plaça de la Remunta (110376)
AMB Mobilitat has advised passengers to use alternative stops at Escola Busquets i Punset (100005), Estació Rodalies (100716), or La Farga (106833), depending on their specific route and direction of travel.
Girona street modifications
A separate diversion affects buses running along Girona street in L'Hospitalet. These route changes begin at 08:00 on Wednesday and will remain in place until approximately 20:00 on Friday, October 2.
Several stops along Girona street have been provisionally suspended. Transport authorities have advised passengers who regularly travel through these areas to check specific line notices and signage at their local stops before beginning their journey.
